The Cinterion MC55iT modem is a quad-band modem that can be used in all existing GSM networks in Europe, USA and Asia (850/900/1800/1900 MHz).
It is a serial port based modem that can also be used with a USB-Serial adapter, and requires a SIM card in its SIM slot to operate. ActiveXperts SMS Component is fully compatible with this Cinterion MC55iT modem. |

USB interface
ActiveXperts ships the modem with a free USB-Serial adapter to connect the modem to one of the USB ports on your computer. This 'FTDI UC232R' adapter is fast and reliable, and comes with drivers for all 32- and 64-bit supported Windows operating systems.

TCP/IP interface (optional)
For virtual hosting solutions (Microsoft Hyper-V, Vmware), you may not have exclusive access to your serial- or USB port(s). In this case, you can use a TCP/IP-Serial adapter. We offer the 'Digi One SP'. This adapter is also used in situations where you want to place the modem on a different location, for instance because of electrical interference.

SIM card
The modem requires a regular SIM card in its slot to allow sending and receiving SMS messages, as well as connecting to a GRPS network for data communication. The SIM card does not ship with the modem; it can be purchased from any Telecom shop.
